Science - Forces in Olympus
Tue 06 Oct 2020This term year 5 are investigating forces. The last few weeks have involved air resistance and upthrust. Messy and not always successful but the children have shown a really good understanding of the forces involved! -
What would Saxon’s consider when deciding where to live?
Tue 06 Oct 2020Children in Snowdon class, were Saxon village planners this afternoon! They had to decide where they would build the village, they thought about the natural resources the Saxons would need! Great job team! -
Olympus European Languages Day
Sun 04 Oct 2020On Friday, Olympus became red, black and yellow for the day as we studied German. We were very fortunate to have two virtual visitors: Mrs Newsham’s son, who spoke to us about learning German and answered lots of questions; Mrs Newsham’s friend from Germany, who showed us round a German house and taught us some German. Lots of vocabulary was learnt and some of the class were able to hold a short conversation in a German by the end of the day. -
European Day of Languages in Rivington
Fri 02 Oct 2020Hej! In Year 3, we have used European Day of Languages to learn about Denmark! We got to grips with different pronunciation (and letters!), delved into the bustling city of Copenhagen and snuggled up to learn about the Danish practise of Hygge, the cosy wellbeing lifestyle. We had a brilliant day and learned lots! Tak skal du have og farvel! 🇩🇰 -
European Languages Day in Oak Class
Fri 02 Oct 2020Oak class came dressed in red, white and blue for European Languages Day. We learnt how to say hello and goodbye in French and enjoyed singing the nursery rhyme Freres Jacques. We also looked at where France is on the map, some of us made flags and we all enjoyed trying some French stick, Croissants and Brioche bread. -
European Day of Languages in Pendle
Fri 02 Oct 2020Pendle Class enjoyed learning all about Denmark as part of European Day Of Languages. The children researched and created a fact file for Denmark, learnt all about Hans Christian Andersen and compared his fairytales to the a Disney version. They also enjoyed learning some Danish words and recorded these into a keynote presentation. Finally we learnt all about Hugge which is the Danish practise of being cosy and comfortable. We enjoyed hot chocolate while wearing slippers and listened to peaceful music!

Looking at the Past in Snowdon Class
Fri 02 Oct 2020During our history sessions this week, the children became archaelogists! They examined different artefacts from the Saxon and VIking periods. They were looking for clues to help them determine what purpose of the items were! There were some very interesting ideas indeed! -

Fri 02 Oct 2020Snowdon class looked fantastic in their red and yellow clothes today! Everyone was excited to learn some new vocabulary. We followed this by learning more about Spain, looking at the geography and culture of the country. I think the children really enjoyed tasting Spanish food! -
European Day of Languages in Ben Nevis
Fri 02 Oct 2020Today in Ben Nevis class, we have learned all about Spain. We came dressed in the colours of the Spanish flag, tried some Spanish food and learned how to have a short conversation in Spanish! We even had our own Spanish flag, made at home by a lovely pupil from our class, to display. Here are some photographs of us having a conversation en Español! -
European Languages Day
Fri 02 Oct 2020Cedar class have had a wonderful day learning some Greek phrases, sampling Greek food, learning a Greek dance and locating Greece on a world map. Well done to Tommy and Lily R who arrived with their own home made Greek flags this morning.🇬🇷
