  • Reception-Easter Bake

Thu 25 Mar 2021 Miss Blackwell
In Beech and Oak class we talked about what ingredients, equipment and recipe we needed to make our Easter Egg cakes. The children used their phonics to read the instructions, they watched how the chocolate changed when we put it in the microwave and then enjoyed mixing it into the cornflakes. We also enjoyed counting back from 30 on the microwave.
  • Creating Moving Vehicles in Maple Class

Wed 24 Mar 2021 Mrs Di Franco

Over the past few weeks, Maple class have been studying moving vehicles. We have learnt all about axles and wheels and how cars move.
We created the body of our car by using a cuboid net. We discussed the shape to link to some of our prior maths learning, then we decorated our cars. Finally, we created our cuboid.
Next, we attached the axles and the wheels with wheel stoppers to make sure that everything stayed secure. Some of us found this bit tricky, but we persevered and learnt new skills.

Maple class had lots of fun testing their vehicles down a ramp! Well done, everyone!

They created a watercolour background to begin with and then created factories, mills

and matchstick men to finish the collage.
    Well done Ash class.

  • Making books in Maple class

Tue 23 Mar 2021 Mrs Di Franco

We are very lucky to have a volunteer in Maple class who is a published author! Today, Mrs Lees brought her books into school and read one of them with the children. They enjoyed doing the different actions of jungle animals from the story. The children created their own version of the story, using adjectives to improve their writing. We had lots of fun in our English lesson. Well done Maple and thank you Mrs Lees for sharing your wonderful book with us.

  • Painting in the style of L.S Lowry in Cedar Class.

    Fri 19 Mar 2021 Mrs.Hacking

Cedar class have really enjoyed discovering how L.S.Lowry painted. We know what colours he used, what he liked to paint and we have painted a seascape using some careful colour mixing.

We are currently working on an industrial scene.  We have painted the background, buildings and ‘matchstick’ figures separately, which we are looking forward to putting together to make an L.S Lowry collage.
