  • Y2 Geography - Marvellous Maasai Necklaces

    We had great fun today learning about the Maasai tribes in Kenya.  We are learning bout life in a Kenyan village and found out lots about Maasai culture.

     

    as a treat we were able to make our own Maasai necklaces, which are worth to show a persons’s riches.  We said we were rich in love and happiness not money ! 
     

     

  • Stone Age art in Pendle Class

    This week Pendle Class became Stone Age artists. They went outside to gather twigs, leaves and other natural items to use as painting tools. They also had a go at making their own paint using charcoal, mixing paints to make the same paint colours used in the cave paintings, experienced drawing on a wall and even experimented with how to make paper look like a rocky cave wall.

     

  • Lego man raft in Cedar class

    In science, Cedar class have been learning about everyday materials. They have investigated whether these materials are waterproof or not. The class worked carefully when designing and making a waterproof raft to keep a Lego man dry. They enjoyed testing their rafts and discussing their designs as they were all different and some rafts had some special features. 🛶 👨 

  • Healthy Heroes

    Tonight the Healthy Heroes learnt about different implements used in the kitchen. They used peelers to grate carrots and then they carefully used ‘the claw’ and ‘the bridge’ to cut carrots and celery before tasting. 🥕 🥗 

  • Kandinsky inspired art

    This week in maths we have been investigating circles and triangles. We have learned that circles have one curved side and triangles have three straight sides. As part of this, we looked at some paintings by Kandinsky who was a Russian artist. He used lots of shapes in his pictures. Then we all helped to make a giant picture like Kandinsky’s using pastels. We made one circle each and put them together to go on the wall.

    This afternoon Maple class have enjoyed learning about and re-creating pictures by the artist Pier Mondrian.

  • Saxon Stew in Snowdon class

    As part of our Food Technology work, Snowdon class has been researching the foods which Saxons would have eaten. They then decided what they would like to put into their stew. They all used equipment safely to peel, chop and dice a variety of vegetables. The stew was cooked and later enjoyed by the class. Well done, you can all come and cook my dinner anytime!

  • Diwali

    This afternoon we had a special visitor on Zoom called Neetal. She told us all about being a Hindu and how she celebrated Diwali. We have already learned a lot so we could answer lots of her questions. We listened very carefully. We watched a CBeebies programme about Diwali and Neetal told us the BBC filmed it in her house with her family. Then she taught us a special dance to celebrate with lots of clapping. Finally some of us had a red dot on our forehead called a Bindhi to celebrate Diwali.

  • Healthy Heroes smoothies

    Today we have been learning to skip. Lots of smiles and laughs all round.

    Today, the Healthy Heroes made the healthy fruit smoothies they had designed.

    They decorated their cup and discussed the taste of the smoothies they had invented.

    They were very delicious smoothies, well  done 🍍 🥭  🥤 

  • KS1 Science Show

    Year 1 thoroughly enjoyed the science show today. They listened carefully, answered questions and learnt some scientific facts.
