  • Designing and making a fruit kebab

    Tue 15 Mar 2022

Wow! What amazing learning Ash Class have done so far this week.  The children have all successfully identified features of instructions and followed them in the correct order.
First, we tasted a variety of fruits and used our senses to choose adjectives to describe them. The children then decided on which fruit they would like to use to create their kebabs whilst thinking about applying repeated patterns.

Today we got to make them! Remembering the purpose of food hygiene from earlier, we washed away any germs.  We used the ‘claw and bridge method’ to safely chop up our fruit and create our tasty kebabs.

They were delicious and everyone in Ash Class thoroughly enjoyed them.

In science, we have been learning about ‘growth’. We discussed what grows all around us, how we grow and today how mini beasts grow too.

Using our English knowledge of instructions, we followed step by step method to grow our own cress seeds.  We are looking forward to watch and record how the seeds grow over the next week.

    Well done Ash Class.

  • Instructions and Fruit kebabs in Cedar Class

    Tue 15 Mar 2022 Mrs.Hacking

Cedar class have been following instructions over the last couple of weeks. Last week, we had to follow instructions to make our own cheese and ham sandwiches (all dietary requirements were met), which we all enjoyed eating! This week, we have been following instructions to make our own fruit kebab. We have tasted different fruits, discussed our favourites, designed a kebab ensuring we create a colourful pattern, learnt about food hygiene and learnt the ‘bridge’ and ‘claw’ safe cutting techniques. Once we made our delicious fruit kebabs we ate them eagerly and discussed what worked and what we could change if we made them again. I think there are a few budding chefs in Cedar Class. 🍌 🍎 🍉 😋 👩‍🍳 👨‍🍳

Thu 10 Mar 2022 Mrs Bullock

What a great end to our work on rivers! The children were set a challenge, produce something that demonstrates what you have learnt about rivers. I’m so impressed with the knowledge that they shared with younger children. It was an absolute pleasure to welcome parents and grandparents into our class too, many thanks for taking time to come and see us. Also, thank you for the help with completing the projects. Super proud of team Snowdon today!

  • Ben Nevis River Projects

Wed 09 Mar 2022 Mr Davies

The children in Ben Nevis have been working extremely hard, over the past few weeks creating their very own river projects.
It was clear that every child had spent numerous hours creating their projects and I am extremely proud of their efforts.

All the visitors to our class were totally blown away by the children’s knowledge of rivers and their creations.

Freddie decided to create his own film documenting the journey of a river.

Wed 09 Mar 2022 Miss Dobbs

Pendle Class had a lovely World Book Day complete it lots of activities linked to our class reader, The Boy Who Grew Dragons. The children started off with a Kahoot! Quiz to see how much of the story they could remember so far. We then designed our own dragon, drawing in plenty of detail. The children wrote poems linked to their dragon as well as painting them for the door display.

  • Snowdon’s World Book Day Door

Wed 09 Mar 2022 Mrs Bullock

We are huge Harry Potter fans in Snowdon class, the children decided to complete our door to reflect this. They enjoyed using water colours, pastels, and ink to create art work.

We read the final pages of The Philosopher’s Stone yesterday, you could have heard a pin drop! I love that the children love listening to stories! Great job team Snowdon!

  • Eco club - after school helpers!

    Tue 08 Mar 2022

After school, some year 5s and 6s helped out eco club with planting hedgerows by the fences in the direction of the motorway. The hope is that in years to come they will reduce the traffic noise. It turned out to be harder work than they thought but they stuck with and should be very proud of themselves.
