Y5 Olympus - La Fete des Rois
Mon 09 Jan 2023Olympus celebrated the French festival of La Fête des Rois on the 4th - traditionally it is celebrated on the 6th January however we were watching A Christmas Carol at the theatre on that day! The children learned all about the history behind this tradition, made a ‘Galette des Rois’ (sweet pastry cake) and created a script in French to use when choosing who got to eat the next slice until the roi (king) or reine (queen) was decided. They also wrote in French what they had done that day.

Art in Y2 Elm -African Designs
Mon 09 Jan 2023We had great fun today designing our own symbols to represent our families. Families in Africa often have their own design on cloth to show what type of family they are. W thought about words like happiness, strength, caring, love and hard-working and used these feelings to design a symbol for our own family. We hope you like the results.

Sun 08 Jan 2023It was lovely to hear what the children had been up to in the Christmas holidays. This week we have explored magnets, talked about winter and cold colours, had our first session on Kidsafe and had two days of balance biking.

Y5 Olympus - Money Mentors
Fri 16 Dec 2022This morning 4 members of Olympus class took over and became teachers for the lesson, continuing Olympus’ learning about money management. It turned out to be harder than they thought!

Christmas baking
Thu 15 Dec 2022Mrs Hannant came to make peppermint creams with Reception today. They listened carefully to the instructions, mixed the ingredients, rolled them into circular ball and printed a pattern on with a fork. The children decorated 3D boxes ready to take them home. Thank you Mrs Hannant!

Y5 Science - Planet Projects
Wed 14 Dec 2022Year 5 have absolutely wowed everyone with their science projects about the planets in the Solar System. They have been so creative and their research has been phenomenal! Well done to them all. They even inspired some of the year ones to have a go themselves (end photo)!

Pendle Class Stone Age Cave Paintings
Wed 14 Dec 2022Pendle Class have created their very own Stone Age paintings on a cave wall! The children practised painting with natural objects and even had a go at making their own paint using charcoal. They designed a painting in the style of a Stone Age cave painter and painted this onto paper first. Then they had to recreate this on a rocky cave wall, which was very tricky! The final wall looks fantastic.

Reception Christmas Party
Tue 13 Dec 2022Reception loved having Marvin for their Christmas party. He performed lots of magic tricks and had them laughing from the minute they walked in. We also played passed the parcel and danced to Christmas

Creating Blood in Year 6
Thu 08 Dec 2022K2 class had an absolutely wonderful afternoon making blood. We used household ingredients to represent the different components within blood, such as marshmallows for white blood cells and pom-poms for platelets. The children then had to work out roughly how many of each they were allowed to put into their blood, so that the levels were correct.
