• Cedar Class Safer Internet Day 2023

  As part of Safer Internet Day we read 'Hanni and the Magic Window'. 
  We discussed, what to do when things happen online, for example, adverts, images popping up or when people ask for personal information. We discussed who we would ask for help and how we could keep ourselves safe.

  Together, we discussed what images are safe to share with loved ones, everyone or never.

  

• Mont Blanc Safer Internet Day 2023

  We have been thinking about how we can keep ourselves safe online. The children showed their knowledge about scams, online bullying and fake news. They then organised ‘computing milestones’ in order from birth to 15. 

  

• Anglo Saxon Trip

  Ben Nevis have had a wonderful day exploring what life was like in Anglo Saxon times. 
  They trained as Anglo Saxon warriors, foraged for foods, weaved and made clay pots, all essential skills in Anglo Saxon Britain.

  The children have loved exploring the ice this month. They came up with lots of ideas of how to melt the ice. This created curiosity and ‘what if?’ questions. They wanted to pour different salts and liquids onto the ice to see if it would melt.  We tried rock salt, sea salt, sand, food colouring, bicarbonate of soda and vinegar but came to the conclusion that heat was the best way to melt ice. We put ice in our artic small world have enjoyed melting it with our hands to turn it back into water. 

  

• Rivers and digimaps

  Ben Nevis throughly enjoyed tracking the journey of rivers from around the U.K, back to their sources using digi-maps. 

  

• Mont Blanc - green screen filming and video creation

  We have used a selection of apps (Greenscreen Do ink, iMovie and Keynote) to produce a news report live from Times Square to celebrate the landing of Curiosity on Mars.

  Today has been an amazing triumph!  Every child in Mont Blanc has successfully produced a 3 layer reduction print - a skill normally taught in high school! Well done everyone!

  

• Felt in Year 4

  Over the last few weeks we have been looking at the art of felt making and the work of felt artists. Ali Scott has inspired us to create our own pieces. Everyone really enjoyed the process and we are thrilled with the finished product.

  

• Italy Day in Pendle Class!

  Pendle Class had a brilliant Italy day! We learnt about topography by creating our own 3D maps of Italy including rivers, mountain ranges and volcanoes. We also became a tourist for the day, watched videos about places to visit, made our own 3D models of The Leaning Tower of Pisa and The Rialto Bridge and even visited The Colosseum using the VR headsets! In the afternoon, we tasted some delicious Italian food, sang songs and learnt how to count to five in Italian. Well done Pendle Class, you all looked fantastic dressed in the Italian flag colours.
